Iron enables you to transact in three ways with your stablecoin. You can Mint your stablecoin via USD Wire, SWIFT and ACH. You can Redeem your stablecoin to USD via USD Wire, SWIFT and ACH. You can convert your stablecoin to and from USDC and USDT on all blockchains that Iron supports. Mint, Redeem and Swap all use the Autoramp primitive. One endpoint creates a standing rule, Iron derives the transaction kind from the currency pair, and every deposit against the rule runs through the standard transaction lifecycle. There is no separate issuance API. If you have integrated Iron ramps or swaps, you already know how to mint and redeem.

How Minting Works

When a user deposits fiat or stablecoin, Iron automatically:
  1. Detects the incoming deposit
  2. Allocates funds to your stablecoin’s reserve accounts
  3. Mints equivalent tokens on-chain
  4. Delivers tokens to the user’s specified wallet address
Every token is backed at least 1:1 by equivalent fiat value in reserves.

How Redeeming Works

When a user redeems their stablecoins, Iron automatically:
  1. Detects the incoming stablecoins on-chain
  2. Burns the tokens, removing them from circulation
  3. Releases equivalent fiat value from reserve accounts
  4. Sends fiat to the user’s bank account or stablecoin to their specified address
